Yenn Purkis is an author, presenter, consultant, mentor and coach. Yenn is non-binary and Asexual (Ace) and is also autistic, ADHD and has schizophrenia and anxiety. Yenn is out loud and proud about all their various differences and wants to use their experiences and insights to change the world, even just a little.
Yenn is the author of 18 published books, all about elements of autistic experience. Yenn’s first book, the autobiography Finding a Different Kind of Normal, was published in 2006. Yenn has been an active disability advocate since that book was accepted for publication.
Yenn is one of the most visible autistic advocates in Australia and internationally. They have a strong social media presence, many awards for their work and have given talks all over the world - including twice for TEDx Canberra.
Yenn lives in Canberra with their little tortoiseshell kitty, Sunflower, in a house full of art, Queer pride things, autistic pride things, cat-themed things and books.
