Lauren Brukner is a Senior Occupational Therapist who lives in New York City with her husband and three children, two of whom have emotional and sensory integration difficulties. She graduated from Stern College for Women with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, and holds a Masters of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from New York University. She specializes in sensory integration and self-regulation strategies in children and young people, and their implementation in home, school and community settings. She has postgraduate training in neuroscience, sensory integration theory and practice, occupational health sciences, and physiological approaches to Occupational Therapy practice, and is also a Certified Screener for Irlen Syndrome and Scotopic Sensitivity. She provides services and workshops to a broad range of school staff, including general and special education teachers, speech language therapists, counselors, and paraprofessionals. Lauren won the gold seal in the Moms Choice Awards, 2016 for family friendly media, products and services. Lauren is a contributing writer to The Huffington Post and Autism Parenting Magazine and blogs at www.awesomeandincontrol.com. Lauren Liebstein Singer, M.S., CCC-SLP, TSSLD is a speech-language pathologist, currently working for the New York City Department of Education. Lauren is licensed by New York State as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) and as a Speech-Language Pathologist with a Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). Lauren has been trained in Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) as well as Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT). She has an extensive background working with children in early intervention and school-based settings with a variety of speech and language based disabilities. Lauren has worked with students towards developing and using form, content, and use of language skills as well as articulation and phonology deficits. Lauren strives to develop functional and meaningful speech and language skills with all of her students for multiple communicative purposes. Lauren lives in New York with her husband and enjoys a nice balance of activity and relaxation, namely: cooking, reading, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.
